On Jul. 9, 2014, Provincial Standing Committee member and Director of Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs Tieqiao Yan visited Tahota Chengdu Office as accompanied by leaders from Municipal Justice Bureau and provincial and municipal lawyer associations for the survey of protection of the lawyer’s rights and interests.

Director Shoutai Cheng, partner Zhengping Xue, Kexue Hu, Jing Liu, Kai Wang, Hua Liao, Chenggang Guo, Zugang Yao and others of Tahota actively participated in the survey, and expressed opinions and views on some common problems, for example, the difficulty for the lawyer to meet or communicate with the suspect, difficulty for file inspection and difficulty in investigation and evidence collection in criminal procedure investigation stage; difficulty for communication between the lawyer and the judge in court trial stage; low degree of recognition of the lawyer’s profession by the social public, etc..  

Based on our opinions, leaders from the Provincial People’s Congress expressed that this time of survey would provide important reference for the Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs under the Provincial People’s Congress for the proposing of related bills. Director Tieqiao Yan encouraged lawyers to constantly strengthen business ability and professional ethics construction, safeguard the correct implementation of the law, safeguard social fairness and justice, safeguard social harmony and stability and make greater contribution for promoting “provincial governance according to the law” and democracy and legal system construction.

During the survey, Tahota was highly praised by leaders for our good performance on various aspects.
